Dear Mr. Chettam, I don’t know why you are so confused on why Miss Loy is saying these things. She has obviously been in bad situations with men and feels the need to be independent and detached from all others. If men are supposed to take care of women, like you said, why is she being treated the way she is? If a man was taking care of her like he should be, why on earth would she be writing these things? It is because men are not doing what they are supposed to be doing. Any woman can become independent if she wants to. There is a part in your statement I do agree with. I do think that she shouldn’t give up hope to all men. I think that women should be able to feel happiness and other emotions with others. To detach yourself without feeling anything would be awfully lonely. I just couldn’t imagine myself without Fred. Before we were married I might have been able to, but now, I don’t think I can.
