My dear Captain, not everyone in this time period would care to “look at what matters most.” They just got out of war for heavens sake! I would like to believe that Mrs Dalloway would be able to do just that, but Mrs Dalloway does not care for what matters most. She was ready to settle down, and she just so happened to settle for Mr Dalloway, though I feel she would be much happier with Mr Peter Walsh. People do irrational and foolish things after the war Captain, whether they choose to believe that or not.
