Celia, I must say that I too was rather confused on what it was that I read in the poems. I did not understand it at all. I did find myself to be in agreement with the speaker however. April can in fact be a rather gloomy month. What if it were to rain for the entire month? Or perhaps if we were to have rain for weeks on end? It would be rather gloomy and might I say depressing! While I also can agree with your statements on how rain does have a rather pleasant smell and it is nice to see flowers in bloom, however, once again, one would have to wonder how the flowers can in fact be in bloom and look as beautiful as they are if it is constantly wilted from the everlasting rain that comes? Which can in fact make for a rather disheartening month. Like I have stated before, the poems do not make as much sense as one would liked for it to. Maybe the poems were supposed to be a mystery for us to wonder about? Perhaps the author is telling us about a certain feeling we must show in relation towards the words in the said poem?
