Male Domination

·

It seems to me that in The Fox, there is a lot of male domination. Two women, Nellie & Jill, are left to run a farm, and let’s face it, they don’t do very well alone. The fox is a symbol of male dominance. The way he is able to hold the grasp of Nellie while she’s got her rifle in hand, then again in the dreams when he is able to dominate her. The fox is VERY intimidating, and honestly, kind of scary.  It isn’t until a male figure comes to the farm that they feel they must take him in, again, male dominance. They have no obligation to him, but immediately feel the need to provide for him. There seems to be a lot of males here aboard our ship, but I don’t sense the kind of dominance here.
