Borthrop Trumbull

My name is Borthrop Trumbull, and I am an auctioneer living and working in the town of Middlemarch. I’m a man with public business, commenced many years since. I am also, I daresay, a man of culture and  I appreciate the finer things of life. Ivanhoe, yes sir, you won’t find a better book than that, a very superior publication. I bought a copy for myself, since a man’s library cannot be complete without the work of Sir Walter Scott. *cough cough* Excuse me–I’ve recently recovered–with great competence sir–from a bout of pneumonia. Mr. Lydgate tells me I cured it myself, yes sir, but he’s a modest man–the best medical man in Middlemarch, he is.
