Ulysses
·
What an interesting chapter this was. I was taken aback at some of the frank language and circumstances Mr. Joyce subjected us to. I don’t believe a lady should have to read about someone’s bowel movements. It’s just not proper sir. I will say I was a bit confused on the subject matter, until I had the opportunity to listen to an enthralling lecture over the subject. I am able to comprehend the material much better than before. This is why I so wish to learn from those who have more wisdom than I. If only Mr. Casaubon would teach me all that he knows in that great mind of his. I fear I may have strayed from the subject a bit. I do apologize. Mr. Leopold Bloom is quite a descriptive fellow. I feel as though I am walking through the streets of Dublin and hearing and seeing all that he sees. This Joyce fellow is a beautiful writer. I have never been to Dublin before but maybe I can convince my husband to take me there someday. I do agree with Cecilia about Mr. Bloom’s eating habits. Offal sounds quite unappetizing and I have no desire to consume it. I am curious about the contents of Mrs. Bloom’s mysterious letter. I shall get a hold of a copy of Ulysses and read the entire story cover to cover.
