Loy’s Flawin her ideology
·
I agree with your statement completely, Susan. Loy’s views demonize men and love rather than express equality. While her ideology came off as sound initially, I was shocked at its harsh nature. What she fails to see is that men and women need each other. Loy states that “Men and women are enemies”, yet she fails to recognize that motherhood and families as we know it would not exist. Though society does little to give its fellow British women the same equalities as men, the idea of men being the enemy is a one sided and uncivilized way of thinking. She comes off as so strong in her belief that women are forced to submit to the will of a male driven society, yet she comes off as weak in her belief that the very desire for a woman to be loved should be destroyed. In doing this, she is stating that women should go as far as to deny themselves the very thing that makes life worth living. If she truly wants to express a need for equality among men and women, Loy should consider the idea that equality can’t be gained by denying the good with the bad.
