Dr. Fielding's Course

Good evening Mr. Trumbull

·

Hello again, good sir. So sorry to hear about your recent illness, but I am very glad indeed to hear of your fast recovery. I do hope you have nothing but good health the rest of year! If you do come to be under the weather again soon, I do know a very healing broth that warms the soul!

I daresay I am a bit confused as well. I feel it is a very foggy, gloomy atmosphere here in Gravesend compared to the splendid greens and rural surrounding of our dear Middlemarch. I’m afraid I haven’t traveled much out of Middlemarch myself, being a wife and mother, so this change of scenery gives me nothing but the chills at the moment.

But yes, I’m afraid there is no way out of Mr. Marlow’s tale, he seems to be a master storyteller, eloquent and able to draw his listeners into this tale- whether we want to listen or not. I hate to admit to myself that I am a bit intrigued to hear of this…unique experience Mr. Marlow had. I do wish I brought a shawl with me on this cold, gloomy night though…silly me with my ever-growing forgetful mind with aging! Oh, looks like we are about to begin!
