Fox

Oh dear, oh dear. How the Fox by D.H. Lawerence was quite interesting! The way he writes is tricky for the ordinary eye. You know that I do say the most ordinary things make the most interesting cases! I thought this would be just like any other story about two women on a farm with dreams about of all things a fox! But first, for these two girls to think they can actually have a successful farm is beyond me! This would be destined for failure if I don’t say so myself! You know, foxes are quite clever animals they can nearly outwit anyone, besides me of course. So there was no surprise for me when the fox killing the chickens. However the depth that Lawerence goes into with dreams and reality I find it very interesting and must explore that! The fact that this whole story is based off a fox stealing from their farm is just great considering the time and plot this was taken place at. Soldiers return home from the war where Henry comes into play. I find it interesting the connection that March begins to have with this creature. Rather odd isn’t it? “March looked back from the door. ‘Jill!’ she cried in a frantic tone, like someone just coming awake. And she seemed to start towards her darling. But the boy had March’s arm in his grip, and she could not move. She did not know why she could not move. It was as in a dream ….” It’s like she kept going through this constant struggle between dreams and reality. I think this story shows us how it was at that time and the differences between men and women and from women to other women.
