Emotions
·
As with you, I too feel this death was unfortunate, and should not have gone this far. While I cannot claim to understand war as you have, I do understand emotions, whether they be mine or others. With how Septimus’ thoughts and feelings were displayed, I could see how hopeless he had been left after his battles. I could even see how his thoughts would lead to believe that death was his only escape, though we all wish it were not. As I agree with you on how it takes an unfortunately sick mind to go through with suicide, I also hope you feel as I did that the Holmes in this novel, not your colleague, was extremely callous in his calling of Septimus ‘coward,’ especially in front of poor Lucrezia!
