Clarissa and her dear friend Sally

·

Clarissa’s dear friend Sally showed to her party, and you would think that Clarissa would be more excited to see her friend Sally, Sally that she spends much of her time thinking of and reminiscing about.  The entire day she was thinking of Sally!  And Peter of course, and Bourton.  You would think she would take time to chat with Sally for a little longer than she did, or excuse herself from her other guests that she doesn’t much care for…like Lady Bradshaw.  Wouldn’t you?  But she would rather talk of death with Lady Bradshaw?  The poor Septimus’ death, and Clarissa did not even pity him!  Oh don’t get me started on that subject again.  Did she not care as much as it seemed of her dear friend Sally?  Of course I do not know everything, but I have been around many women in my days.  Now this Clarissa Dalloway, she was too stuck in her own head.  Yes, she was present at the party, but she wasn’t.  Women like her, they aim to keep up appearances.  Why, it didn’t matter to her that Sally was there, she would have cared more if Miss Kilman appeared – her enemy!
