Dr. Fielding's Course

Under guidance, dear Watson

·

There is something in what you say… but not everything. And yet, I wish I had the bravery to speak my opinion as surely  as you do. You seem tempered, Watson. Is everything alright? I do not think it is good for a man to become so upset over his opinions. Everything is better understood in a mild state, under guidance, you know. We, like the soldiers, have our duties to do and we have to remain calm, for the women, of course, for the people!

I have read the poems. I know the horrors of this story are unfathomable. Perhaps this is why we should not go into it too deeply, you know. It is hard to connect the truth and the imaginary within this context. Is this really what the soldiers faced? How can we know? I do not think I want to believe it. History, you know, has a way of repeating itself. I cannot bear to think of it. Do not become too irrational, for others may join you and history will repeat sooner than the break of dawn. Under guidance, Watson. Let us think of it no more for today.
