Dr. Fielding's Course

Oh Captain, My Captain!

·

Oh Captain, my captain! So sad this story, the poor men who go to war to fight for their country are treated as nothing but mere dirt on your shoe. The men who give up their lives, their families, their safety, all for ungrateful people who do not know what sacrifice really is. The poems by Owen are truly sad and meaningful. The poems give so much attention to what little respect we carry for our soldiers. Now, I was one of these men, and I am very fortunate for making it home, but how dare we treat the ones who don’t make it home any differently. If anything, they deserve more honor and praise. The men who are shot down like cattle, they deserve the credit. It is so inhumane, and then people have the audacity to push them aside like they did nothing. It’s sickening. I hope I don’t hear a single disrespectful word from anyone aboard this ship or Holmes and I will be convicting him or her of some sort of crime so they can pay for their ignorance.
